UFC Fight Island 8 Betting Prediction: Francisco Nazareno Figueiredo Junior vs. Jerome Rivera

On the next fight island event for the UFC, there will be a great betting opportunity in the preliminary card. The fight in particular to look out for is the flyweight battle between Francisco Nazareno Figueiredo Junior and Jerome Rivera.

Date: Wed, Jan 20, 8:00 AM

Venue: Flash Forum

Watch on: ESPN

Francisco Nazareno Figueiredo Junior (11-3-1)

Figueiredo, not to get confused with the fighter of the year 2020 caliber of Deiveson Figueiredo, will be making his octagon debut in this matchup. He is actually the slightly younger brother to him.

The two train often together in their camps getting ready for the respective fights when they can. Since he does not have any UFC stats yet, a lot of fans do not know how well he will perform in this league.

His fighting resume shows that he has three wins by knockout, seven by submission, and one by decision. He also has five first round finishes with a combined effort of knockouts and submissions.

He is currently on a two fight winning streak, with both of these being knockout victories. He has primarily spent most of his fighting career in leagues around Brazil.

Jerome Rivera (10-3-0)

Rivera is coming off of a UFC debut in which he lost to Tyson Nam by knockout. Before that fight, he was on a three fight winning streak and gaining some momentum.

His fighting resume shows that he has seven wins by submission and three by decision. He also has three first round finishes, with all of them being submissions.

“The Renegade” actually has another UFC fight on his resume when he fought in the Dana White’s Contender Series. So far he has a striking accuracy at 42 percent and nothing for a grappling accuracy.

He lands 3.79 significant strikes a minute while absorbing 2.67. This is a very solid ratio if he can continue this volume.

Rivera has a takedown defense at 50 percent and a significant strike defense at 55 percent. He does not yet have averages for takedowns or submissions.

This is a tough matchup to decipher since there are a handful of variables to consider. Rivera will be attempting to have his first UFC victory with limited experience while Figueiredo has nearly 10 years of fighting in Brazil and making his debut here.

Figueiredo’s most recent bout was supposed to be against undisputed 135-pound champion Klinger Pinheiro in March but unfortunately cancelled. So it is not like the man has never fought before.

With that being said, he also trains with his brother from time to time. So clearly he has a lot of upside to his fighting. Overall, he has a very good chance to win.
