NFL Betting Preview: Denver Broncos vs. Los Angeles Chargers – Sunday, Dec. 27, 2020

The Broncos will head to Los Angeles this Sunday to play the Chargers with kickoff scheduled for 3:05 central time. This is an AFC West matchup of two of the bottom of the division teams.

These teams each come into this game with a 5-9 record. The Broncos have dealt with major injuries all season, with quarterback Drew Lock missing 3 games. The Chargers have their own set of issues with their coaching staff coming into question recently.

Denver Broncos Betting Preview: Can the Broncos find a way to score?

The Denver Broncos come into this matchup having won two of their last seven games. This past weekend the Broncos were steam rolled by The Buffalo Bills in one of their worst losses of the season.

The quarterback for the Broncos, Drew Lock, has had his fair share of struggles this season. In 11 games as the starter, Lock has only thrown 14 touchdowns and has recorded 13 interceptions. Denver has recorded the most turnovers (30) in the NFL this season.

The Broncos defense has its own woes. The defense is giving up over 28 points per game. They are the 26th worst team when it comes to rushing yards given up, surrendering over 130 yards rushing per game.

Los Angeles Charger Betting Preview: Is Justin Herbert Rookie of the Year?

The Chargers are coming into this game winning their last two games, both of which are by a combined 6 points. Los Angeles has been competitive most of this season, besides a week 13 blowout by the Patriots.

Rookie Justin Herbert, drafted 6th in the 2020 draft out of Oregon, has lived up to the expectations. In 14 games he is closing in on 3800 passing yards. He has thrown 27 touchdowns and adds 4 rushing touchdowns. He does have 10 interceptions this season, but also has over 530 passing attempts.

First year play caller, Shane Steichen, has been under heavy criticism these past few weeks with his late game play calling. Coach Lynn has addressed the concerns with the media and supports Steichen to continue learning. Hopefully, for Herbert’s sake, they can get these issues resolved for he is the quarterback of the future.
