- Both teams have scored in 14 of Montpellier’s 21 Ligue 1 games this term
- These sides have drawn eight league games between them this season
- Montpellier’s league matches have average 2.43 goals per game in 2020-21
Montpellier’s pursuit of a European berth has unravelled after defeats to Monaco, Marseille and Paris Saint-Germain this month and it is hard to justify backing them at home to Lens.
Lens themselves still have an outside shot at a top-six berth in Ligue 1, although consistency continues to cost them as they followed up victory over Marseille in their last away contest with a home loss to Nice.
Neither side are worth backing in the result market and punters are instead advised to back a high-scoring encounter at the Stade de la Mosson with both teams to score and over 2.5 goals a decent bet.
Montpellier’s last six matches have featured a total 24 goals – an average of four goals per game – while Lens have seen 60 goals in their 21 Ligue 1 matches in 2020-21.
In terms of a correct score, Montpellier have scored at least two goals in four games since mid-December and 2-2 could be the way to play it.
