King’s Casino closes again
The world is waking up to more positive news in the fight against COVID-19 but the virus is still leaving its mark on the world, including the poker industry. King’s Casino in Rozvadov has announced it will be closed until November 30 under government lockdown orders.
This is particularly relevant as it is the venue expected to host the live WSOP Main Event International final table on December 15.
Cases are starting to level in the Czech Republic but it will be a nervous sweat for all concerned as the first online Day 1 gets under way this Sunday.
Polk up after a big session
The truck is getting ready to back up as Doug Polk regained the lead in his heads-up match with Daniel Negreanu, following a $205,521 winning session at the end of the week to put him $26,371 (half a buy-in) ahead.
With over 21,000 hands left to go it is still early days, but we are getting closer to the halfway stage where the losing player has the option to quit or raise the stakes.
Three sessions are expected this week on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday and they could each be longer than the previous ones.
Session 9: +$205,521.74 377 Hands
Total: +$26,371.78 3,799 Hands
Back in the green. Had some pretty nice cooler spots back the opposite way. Feel like im playing great.
Also just bought a Threadripper 3990x and upgrade to 128gb ram to get deep in the lab all weekend.

The next grudge match?
Speaking of heads-up challenges, if this battle brings Polk out of retirement for good we might know who his next opponent is.
He has floated the idea with none other than Doyle Brunson and the folks at PokerGo have already suggested it should be one of their next high stakes Duel shows.
Doyle hasn’t replied (nor has Dan Bilzerian) but with High Stakes Poker back next week, there could be an appetite for these old school vs new school duels.
Doyle if you wanna battle some heads up unlimited texas hold’em I’m happy to do it in person. https://t.co/MMcsiFxfCZ

The hope makes it more painful
We’ve all had these spots before (though not in $5k events) and I think we can all agree it’s better when we don’t hit the temporary set if Aces are getting there regardless:
Will King’s be open in time? Let us know in the comments:
