Hall Hard to Haul Down
Iowa State running back Breece Hall played a major role in Iowa State winning its first-ever Big 12 regular-season title before falling to Oklahoma in the conference championship game.
Hall’s 1,436 rushing yards are second in the nation. The sophomore is averaging 5.9 yards on his 245 carries.
Hall has also scored 21 touchdowns, 19 rushing and two passing. He has had a TD in all 11 games this season.
In the first eight games, Hall exceeded 100 yards rushing in each and had at least 135 yards seven times.

However, while still strong, Hall’s production has waned a bit late in the season. He has been held under 100 yards in each of the last three games – 91 against Texas, 97 versus West Virginia and 79 against Oklahoma.
Oregon has a solid run defense. The Ducks are allowing 159.8 yards a game on the ground, which is 56th in the FBS, and 4.2 yards a carry, which is 57th.
It is hard to envision Oregon completely shutting Hall down, but he will likely have to work for his yards against the Ducks.
Pick: Breece Hall under 115.5 yards rushing (-110, 1 unit)
Shough’s Numbers Decreasing
Shough has done a capable job of replacing Justin Herbert at quarterback for Oregon. Herbert, of course, has had a fine season with the Los Angeles Chargers and will likely be named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.
In six games, Shough has 1,480 yards passing and 13 touchdowns. He also has a 62.7 completion percentage and been intercepted five times.
Oregon (+3) jumps ahead 2-scores on #15 USC. Tyler Shough now has 3 passing TDs in the half. 💪

Shough has thrown for 300 yards twice and had games in which he has passed for four and three. Yet since having 331 yards against UCLA in the third game of the season, Shough’s yardage total have gone down in the three subsequent games.
In Oregon’s victory USC in the Pac-12 Championship Game, Shough’s impact was minimal. He completed just eight of 15 attempts for 91 yards, though he did have two TD passes.
A strong case can be made that Iowa State is the best team Shough will face in the pandemic-shortened season. Look for him to struggle against the Cyclones.
Pick: Tyler Shough under 230 yards passing (-110, 1 unit)
