FAU at Marshall: Three things to know
The Owls of Florida Atlantic have managed to play just one game so far due to COVID-19 issues in the program and with opponents. Head coach Willie Taggart expects to have enough players to be able to play. FAU opened with a 21-17 win over Charlotte on Oct. 3 in its only game to date.
Marshall is 4-0 to open a season for the first time since the 2014 campaign, and the key to its success has been 213.8 rushing yards per game and 37.3 points per contest.
The Thundering Herd eased past the Owls in Boca Raton last season 36-31 as RB Brenden Knox rolled for 220 yards and a pair of touchdowns, including the game-winning score with just 36 seconds remaining. Marshall is 6-1 all time vs. FAU and has won two in a row in the series.

Money line (ML)
Marshall (-834) is ranked and in a nice rhythm so far this season with very little interruptions. FAU (+550), the defending C-USA champion, hasn’t been as fortunate. Still, you cannot lay more than eight times your potential return, as Taggart’s bunch could easily rise up for an upset win. AVOID.
Against the spread (ATS)
FLORIDA ATLANTIC +17 (-110) is catching a lot of points in this one. It fell into a 10-0 hole against Charlotte in its only game to date, but quickly erased that and outscored the 49ers 21-7 the rest of the way. The Owls have started and stopped practices, and had several games canceled, so they’re itching to get back out on the field. There is a little unknown if they’re have their full assortment of players, so circle back later in the week before finalizing those tickets. Still, as long as QB Nick Tronti and RBs James Charles and Larry McCammon III are available, they have the horses to compete.
The OVER 51.5 (-110) is the way to go, as FAU’s tackling could be a little suspect after a lengthy absence from game action. Knox could run wild early on for the home side before the visitors catch up. The Owls have the offense to hang with the Herd, however, and this one could turn into a bit of a track meet in the second half.
