12.35 – Every Race Live On Racing TV Novices’ Hurdle – 2m4f

Olly Murphy could be in for quite a productive afternoon at Carlisle with many excellent chances throughout the card, starting with impressive point winner GRANDADS COTTAGE, who looked a shade unlucky when just touched off when last seen. He brings solid form to the table and has bundles of potential now making his hurdles debut. He should prove very hard to beat in the opener.

Selections: GRANDADS COTTAGE

13.08 – Every Race Live On Racing TV Novices’ Hurdle – 2m4f

JETAWAY JOE was runner-up on debut at Market Rasen and comfortably went one better at Fontwell three months later. He looks very promising and should be able to make his presence felt with a clear round of jumping.

His main danger appears to be QUICK DRAW, showed plenty of ability in all bumpers last season and made a positive start to his hurdling career when runner-up at Uttoxeter last month. More improvement is anticipated here and he shouldn’t be discounted.

Selections: JETAWAY JOEY, QUICK DRAW

13.40 – Introducing Racing TV Beginners’ Chase – 1m7f

An interesting contest with plenty of smart hurdlers making the transition to fences. The six-year-old MALYSTIC looked good last season and the only time he’s finished outside the top-two was in a Grade Two bumper contest at Aintree. His form has worked out well and, with the scope to do better still in this sphere, he could be the answer to the race.

Dan Skelton’s PROTEKTORAT was certainly the best of these over hurdles last term and has to be feared the most if taking to the larger obstacles. He was an impressive winner of a Cheltenham listed novice hurdle on New Year’s Day and by no means disgraced himself in the Coral Cup at the Cheltenham Festival.

Selections: MALYSTIC, PROTEKTORAT

14.15 – Watch Irish Racing On racingtv.com Intermediate Hurdle -2m1f

NICKOLSON won his sole bumper outing last year and then made a successful hurdles debut last October when easily accounting for 125-rated rivals. He lost his unbeaten record when runner-up at Warwick when last seen but this six-year-old has loads of ability and has the capabilities to play a leading role here.

RIBBLE VALLEY is held in high regard by Nicky Richards and, having won two bumper races beforehand, he looked even better when winning his first two races over hurdles before finishing second in a Grade Two when last in action. The form of that race looks solid and he should take plenty of beating with more improvement to come.

Selections: NICKOLSON, RIBBLE VALLEY

14.50 – racingtv.com Handicap Hurdle – 2m1f

Arguably the toughest race to solve on the card, so I’m going to select three against the field to hopefully cover ourselves on this tricky leg.

MAGIC DANCER hasn’t won since 2018, but he’s gone close on a few occasions since off previously higher marks than today’s and he shaped quite well on his reappearance last month.

James Ewarts’ ARISTO DU PLESSIS returned to form with a commanding victory on his final start last term to enhance his fine strike-rate in this sphere. He’s up 6Ib but still looks well treated based on past exploits.

The same can be applied to VALENTINO DANCER, who was fairly useful on the Flat/over hurdles and was back to form when a staying-on third at Market Rasen on penultimate start at Market Rasen. He’s dangerously well-handicapped and can’t be discounted.

Selections: MAGIC DANCER, ARISTO DU PLESSIS, VALENTINO DANCER

15.25 – Congratulations Natalie And Scott Forrester Handicap Chase – 3m2f

Damiens Dilemma arrives in good form but a chance is taken on LOUGH FERG FARMER, who is a course winner and has gone well fresh in the past. He does, however, need to raise his game but he’s on a mark that is well within his capabilities if on a going day.

Kim Bailey’s STATION MASTER continues to edge down the weights and shouldn’t be written off just yet based on his reasonable fifth last time out which looked a stronger race than today’s contest and he’s capable of winning this open-looking contest.

Selections: LOUGH DERG FARMER, STATION MASTER
